Saariselkä is an all round winter wonderland resort, full of mystical charm. Saariselka is one of the more Northern resorts in Lapland and is set in stunning scenery close to the Urho Kekkonen National Park, which extends from the village to Koilliskairas, where you will find locals and visitors enjoying the beautiful local area, long traditions and Lappish hospitality.
Restaurants, shops and other amenities can all be found close together so people can gather especially of an evening to join in festivities in the nightspots with local music and entertainment.
Saariselkä is located in the Inari area, which has over 7500 inhabitants. There are approximately 2000 Sámi Lapps that live in Inari.
The ‘Aurora Borealis’, otherwise known as the Northern Lights are a natural spectacle and therefore no one can predict when it will happen. However in the very North skies, you are more likely to experience this magic sight on clear nights during the months of November till May. It is believed that to see the Northern Lights will bring you good luck.
