Ruka
Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, just below the Arctic Circle. Ruka is known as the “Gateway to Lapland” and was recently voted as Finland’s best ski resort. Here is a pristine arctic wilderness of frozen lakes and snow-sculpted forests, with prolonged rose-tinted twilights, mesmerising star-studded night skies and a chance to to view the breath-taking Northern Lights.
The resort offers reindeer, husky or snowmobile safaris in breathtaking scenery. The standard of food and accommodation is high, with a choice of immaculate hotels, apartments, or cosy well-equipped log cabins. This unspoiled gem is a far cry from the overcrowded resorts of the alps and is suited for families and couples alike, offering a unique and different experience for those with that sense of adventure and a yearning for that touch of magic!

Lapland has a crisp dry type of cold and is quite comfortable as long as good protective winter clothing is worn ie: a warm ski suit, several light layers of under garments, long thermal underwear, warm socks and boots, hat, gloves, ski goggles or sunglasses. A warm thermal suit and boots can be pre-booked or hired locally by the week.
