There is plenty to see and do when visiting Kittila. And there’s more than enough to see and do without ever going down a ski slope.

There is the chance to ride a snowmobile, a reindeer sled, be pulled on a dog sled and even snowshoe in the west central part of Kittila. Be sure to discover the many art galleries and museums including the Galleria Raekallio, marvel at the beauty of the Arctic by day, and venture out on snowshoe and snowmobile safaris. It’s also worth visiting the reindeer and husky farms, especially if you’re travelling with children.

The passenger numbers at the Kittilä Airport have been rapidly increasing during recent times; in 2005, almost 229,000 passengers used the airport. In spite of that, this northern airport has an unhurried and friendly atmosphere: you can even take a sauna bath at the airport.

The Nordic and Alpine skiing facilities at Levi and Ylläs are but a stone’s throw from the airport. The extension of the terminal was completed in 2005.
