Enontekio Airport
Enontekio is situated by the borders of Norway and Sweden, so is the perfect place to stay if you are planning on doing some travelling.
There is much to experience in Enontekio: Reindeer trips, snowmobile safaris, swamp walks and even fishing trips. Hiking, camping and mountain biking are also popular activities. Enontekio is a fisherman’s paradise with rivers of salmon and lakes in the fells. There are plenty or events here all year round.
The Hetta Music Event, the Annual Ice Fishing Competition and Snowcross-snowmobile races are just a few.
Enontekiö Airport is an important part of tourism in Lapland - it lies around 1,000 km from the Finnish capital, Helsinki. Journies can be made from the airport by light aircraft, snowmobile or reindeer team. The airport has its own cosy cafe as well as an authentic Lappish tepee for meetings.
The number of charter flights to Enontekiö has rapidly increased. In 2005, approximately 13,700 passengers used the airport; international charter flights making up 13,000 of this figure.
